Why the window is incomplete at the start of each half

The windows that arrive ready-made — On target (5′ and 15′), Shots (15′), Corners (15′), the recent dangerous attacks and acceleration — never reach back before the whistle of the current half. At 10 minutes, the “last 15′” window holds only ten. At 48, just after half time, the 5′ and 15′ windows hold exactly the same three minutes.

It is not a collection fault: it is how these windows are built at the source, and it is documented by whoever supplies them.

When each window starts to count

1st half2nd half
5′ windowfrom minute 6from minute 51
15′ windowfrom minute 16from minute 61

One minute beyond the window's length, as a margin: it covers the rounding with which the time marks are stored at the source.

What the panel does before then

  • It shows the number, because it is real — it just covers less time than its name says. Hovering over the cell shows a note that the window does not have its full minutes yet.
  • It does not light up rules that depend on that window. A rule of “more than 2 on target in the last 15′” cannot hold with a window that only has five minutes.
  • It does not calculate acceleration: comparing the pace of a truncated window with the pace of the whole match would give a meaningless number. The column shows a dash.

That is why a rule that looks right stays off at the start of each half. This and the other reasons are in why a rule does not light up.

And in extra time

The windows restart at the beginning of extra time, and the panel never treats them as complete during it: rules with a window do not light up and acceleration does not appear. It is a rare case, and handling it separately would complicate the reading of every other one.
